Wei Jingsheng Foundation
January 31, 2009

On January 26, 2009, Chinese new year day for the year of the Ox, CBC Radio One's early edition broadcasted its host Rick Cluff's interview with the top Chinese human rights activist Wei Jingsheng as the kick off of the Chinese New Year, as well as on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Democracy Wall. In his interview, Mr. Wei talked about his work during the Democracy Wall period, as well as his life followed in prison. Near the end, Mr. Wei also gave a forecast of China's future ahead.

CBC Radio One is the English-language news and information radio network of the publicly-owned Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It is commercial free and offers both local and national programming. It is available on either AM or FM to 98 per cent of Canadians, and is also available overseas through Radio Canada International and also over the Internet.

The interview is also available now at:

The Wei Jingsheng Foundation expresses its gratitude for CBC Radio One and apologizes for the not so desirable quality of the interpretation as the interpreter was fighting against a fever on that day.
