Dear WFDA friends,
Shortly after sending out our latest E-paper, a number of different organizations sent us further statements about the Tibetan crackdown. Therefore, we would like to share them with you.
In solidarity,
WFDA Secretariat
----
First, we have two statements from organizations representing Uyghur people from East Turkestan, who obviously feel close solidarity with the Tibetans, being also occupied by China.
- The Uyghur American Association, a statement issued on 17 March by the Uyghur democratic leader Rebiya Kadeer, who expressed full support and solidarity to the Tibetan people.
- The World Uyghur Congress expressed its solidarity with the Tibetan people in a statement released on 18 March.
Second, international partners continue to react. For example:
- Six human rights NGOs issued an open letter on 19 March to IOC president Jacques Rogge to urge him to speak out on human rights in Tibet and China. Olympic Watch has the full statement.
- Reporters Without Borders issued a press release on 20 March about the current situation in Tibet, highlighting obstruction of international media by the Chinese authorities.
