Burma belongs to us
From Burma Forum Canada

Dear friends of Burma,

As you all are well aware, the Burmese Military Junta announced that there will be a referendum due in the 1st week of May followed by a full fledge elections in 2010.

Our country has been under the harsh rule of Burmese military junta for more than forty-six years. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has already  advised us to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. The SPDC's referendum is a great challenge for all peace-and democracy-loving people of Burma. Now the people of Burma must demonstrate, once again, how much we love democracy, justice, and democracy.

There is a time that comes in the life of any nation when there remain only two choices , to submit or to fight. We should not submit and we have no choice but to hit back by all means within our power in the defense of our people, our future and our freedom. Now the time has come for the whole populace of Burma , including all of us residing in Canada, to fight against our common enemy, the Burmese military junta, and create better future for the long suffering people of Burma. We should always remember the following statement by our student leader,Min Ko Naing:

"The people of Burma must have the courage to say no to injustice and yes to the truth," he said at the first 88 Generation meeting last August. "They must also work to correct their own wrongdoing that hurt society."

-Min Ko Naing

I was in Mae Sot, Thailand in February 2008.I visited refugee camps, met and discussed with several leaders and members of exiled Burma-related organizations including NLD_LA, KNU, BLC, NCUB,  etc.. Now I am back in Edmonton and we will continue our discussions regarding strategy for the upcoming SPDC's referendum.

Burma needs our support and commitment. Don't forget Burma.

With best regards.
